Pueblo, CO – A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for portions of southern Colorado from late Tuesday night through Thursday evening. Significant snowfall is expected in mountainous regions, with total accumulations ranging between 5 and 15 inches.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Wet Mountains, and sections of the Upper Rio Grande Valley are likely to be hardest hit. Travel conditions may become hazardous, particularly along La Veta Pass and Wolf Creek Pass on Wednesday, where visibility could be severely reduced.
The storm is forecasted to bring heavy snow to elevations both below and above 10,000 feet, including major travel routes such as Cumbres Pass and Poncha Pass. Residents and travelers are advised to monitor updates and exercise extreme caution.
Preparedness tips include ensuring vehicles are equipped with winter safety gear and allowing extra travel time. Updates can be found on the National Weather Service website.
The Winter Storm Watch will remain active through Thursday evening, with additional snowfall expected before conditions improve.
