Pueblo, CO – A significant winter storm is forecast to hit southern Colorado beginning Friday evening, bringing snow, freezing temperatures, and dangerous travel conditions through Saturday. Residents in Pueblo and nearby counties, including Teller and El Paso, should prepare for up to six inches of snow by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday. Heavy snow is expected to start late Friday night, creating hazardous road conditions. Commuters along Interstate 25 and major roadways should exercise caution, as snow accumulation could make driving treacherous.

The heaviest snow will fall in the mountains and along the plains interface west of I-25, with totals ranging from four to eight inches in higher elevations. Pueblo could see up to six inches. Temperatures are forecast to drop significantly, with lows near zero by Sunday night.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead by stocking up on essential supplies and limiting travel during the storm. Drivers should slow down, use caution, and check local road conditions by dialing 511.

The storm is expected to taper off Saturday evening, with clearer but frigid conditions persisting into Sunday. Another chance of snow returns early next week.
