Connecticut Rail Line to Receive Major Upgrades and Enhancements
WPBN: It is wonderful news for those who travel trains in the state of Connecticut. For the purpose of enhancing service on the CTrail line, the state will receive more than eleven million dollars.
Those with whom we spoke have infomed us that this is something that is desperately required, and state leaders have stated that this is a victory not only for those who ride the train, but also for the people of Connecticut.
According to the Mayor of Hartford, Arunan Arulampalam, this purchase represents a significant investment for the state.
‘Transportation infrastructure is what makes the state so competitive,” Arulampalam stated.
In addition to the numerous other state politicians who were present at Hartford Union Station on Monday, Arulampalam was also present.
According to him, the Connecticut Department of Transportation will get more than eleven million dollars from the Federal Rail Association.
“We’ve had record ridership here in Hartford,” Arulampalam stated. “And this, these new dollars to invest in the Hartford-New Haven line, $11 million, is going to continue to grow the competitiveness of this region.”
According to him, one of these enhancements will involve reestablishing connections between the north end of Hartford and surrounding communities.

“Right now, there’s a big gap in the midday schedule,” Garrett Eucalitto stated. “So, if you’re a passenger, a commuter or a traveler, you want to make sure that there are trains available when you want to take a train.”
Furthermore, the funds will be allocated to the enhancement of safety measures at the crossing tolls in Wallingford.

‘How can we make that crossing safer where there’s major industrial activity? There, trucks cross, crossing over there, and the Federal Railroad Administration is the height of that. That is one of the most risky grade crossings in our state on the Hartford line,” Eucalitto stated.
According to Richard Selden, who is from New London, these enhancements are extremely necessary.
“If the ridership increases along with improvements in service, I think we are in great shape,” Selden stated.
