Crest Hill Man Fatally Shot in North Riverside Police Response to Domestic Disturbance

North Riverside, IL – A Crest Hill man was fatally shot by police Sunday during a domestic disturbance in North Riverside.

At approximately 3:47 p.m., officers responded to an emergency call on the 8500 block of Cermak Road. Police arrived to find the 31-year-old Crest Hill man armed with two knives, allegedly threatening another individual.

North Riverside Police stated that an officer discharged their firearm to protect the threatened individual. Officers on the scene provided immediate medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported the man to the hospital. Despite their efforts, the man later died from his injuries.

Officials confirmed that this was an isolated domestic incident and posed no wider risk to the public. All responding officers wore body cameras, which captured the encounter. No officers were injured during the incident.

The North Riverside Police Department is cooperating with the State Police Public Integrity Task Force, which is leading the investigation. Authorities stressed their commitment to transparency and stated that further updates would be shared as the investigation progresses.
