Danville Police Arrest Convicted Felon on Gun and Assault Charges

Danville, IL – Danville Police arrested a convicted felon Friday after a report of an armed individual on N. Walnut Street.
Witnesses reported seeing a man with a firearm at a residence around 3 p.m. Officers secured a search warrant with assistance from the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office.
According to police, officers discovered an illegal firearm during the search and identified the suspect as Jerrod Dyson, 41, of Danville. Authorities confirmed Dyson is a convicted felon and was on mandatory supervised release at the time of his arrest.
Police transported Dyson to the Public Safety Building. He faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
