Des Plaines Man Dies After Two-Vehicle Rollover Crash in Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights, IL – A two-vehicle crash in Arlington Heights claimed the life of a 69-year-old Des Plaines man.
The crash occurred Saturday just before 4:30 p.m. near Lake Cook Road and Bloomington Avenue. Police say a dark gray BMW M340i traveling fast struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee attempting a turn. The impact caused the Jeep to roll several times before stopping in the westbound lanes of Lake Cook Road.
According to police, the Jeep’s driver was critically injured and rushed to Lutheran General Hospital. Despite emergency treatment, the driver succumbed to his injuries at 4:14 a.m. Sunday. The Cook County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
The BMW’s 18-year-old driver and two teenage passengers were evaluated by paramedics. One passenger was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, while the others refused treatment.
Police closed Lake Cook Road temporarily for reconstruction and investigation by the Major Case Assistance Team. Investigators continue gathering evidence to determine fault.
Authorities have withheld the Jeep driver’s name pending family notification.
