Detroit, MI — Snow showers and seasonably cold temperatures are expected to impact southeastern Michigan this weekend, potentially disrupting travel. Residents are advised to plan ahead, as light snow accumulations and slick conditions are likely to affect roads, including I-75 and surrounding highways.
According to the National Weather Service, intermittent flurries will linger Friday, with wind chills dipping to 5–10 degrees. By Friday night, snow is expected to begin after 3 a.m., accumulating less than half an inch by early Saturday morning. Southwest winds, gusting up to 23 mph, could further reduce visibility for drivers.
Saturday will see snow showers continue through late morning before tapering off in the afternoon. High temperatures will range from 26 to 30 degrees. Minor snow accumulation remains possible, making roads slippery during the day. Saturday night could bring additional light snow, with lows around 22 degrees.
Sunday offers some relief, with dry and partly sunny conditions forecasted. Highs will reach the upper 20s, providing a break from the wintry mix before temperatures warm slightly into the mid-30s Monday. Breezy conditions are anticipated to persist early next week.
Drivers are urged to monitor updates and exercise caution, particularly on untreated roads. Prepare for delays and consider leaving extra time for travel this weekend.
