Dogs Saved from Burning Home in Marengo Township, Michigan

Marengo Township, MI – A structure fire on Saturday evening prompted a swift response from Calhoun County deputies and firefighters, leading to the rescue of two dogs.
Deputies arrived at a residence in the 22000 block of H Drive N around 5:13 p.m. after a caller reported flames and barking dogs. Officials observed heavy smoke and flames emerging from the home. Two vehicles parked outside suggested that the house might be occupied.
Deputies entered the burning structure and safely removed two dogs before the fire could spread further. A thorough search confirmed no human occupants were inside.
Firefighters from the Marengo Township Fire Department arrived shortly after and inspected the home in protective gear. Their efforts ensured no individuals were left behind in the heavily damaged house.
The Michigan State Police, along with fire departments from Marshall, Albion Township, and Albion, provided support. Ambulance services and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority also assisted during the emergency response.
Authorities have not determined the cause of the fire. Lieutenant Hess from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office encouraged anyone with information to come forward. No injuries were reported during the incident, but the home suffered significant fire damage. The rescued dogs are reportedly safe.
