Driver Hospitalized After Colliding with Police Patrol Vehicle in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials reported that a driver who collided with a police patrol vehicle on Sunday in southwest Bakersfield has been hospitalized for treatment.

The incident occurred on New Stine Road near Sundale Avenue around 12:43 p.m. on Sunday.

The Bakersfield Police Department stated that the collision took place when another vehicle made an unsafe lane change, crashing into the patrol vehicle that was being driven northbound on New Stine Road.

As a result of the collision, the front right side of the police vehicle sustained damage.

Fortunately, neither the officer nor the person being arrested suffered any injuries in the accident.

However, the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Kern Medical for medical treatment.
