Driverless taxi filled with passengers rear-ended by hit-and-run driver in downtown L.A.
Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who slammed into the back of a self-driving taxi, leaving three of four passengers hospitalized, in downtown Los Angeles Thursday night.
The crash involving a Waymo occurred as heavy rain was falling around 10 p.m. in the area of Grand Avenue and West Pico Boulevard.
Andrew Townsend said he was inside the taxi with three other friends when “we got hit from the back.”
Townsend said his friends were transported to a local hospital. Their conditions were unknown.
The vehicle that hit the Waymo left the scene and crashed again into two parked cars about one block away, freelance media service RMG News reported.
The driver then fled from that crash scene on foot.
