Jackson, KY – A cold front moving through Eastern Kentucky is set to bring snow showers, rain, and fluctuating temperatures this week. The National Weather Service warns that snow could impact areas along and north of the Mountain Parkway by Thursday, creating slick conditions for drivers.

According to the NWS, Thursday’s forecast includes mostly cloudy skies with a 30% chance of snow, particularly in higher elevations. Temperatures will range from 34 to 42 degrees, with wind chills making it feel even colder. Drivers are urged to use caution, especially in areas prone to icy conditions.

By Friday, clouds will increase, but precipitation is expected to hold off until Saturday, when rain chances surge to 90%. Temperatures will climb into the mid-40s, making it a soggy start to the weekend. Saturday’s heavy rain could cause localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas, so residents should monitor weather alerts.

Sunday brings colder air back to the region, with snow likely in the morning, tapering off into the afternoon. Accumulations remain uncertain, but temperatures will plummet to 26-34 degrees.

The NWS forecasts quieter weather early next week as high pressure returns, bringing sunshine and a reprieve from precipitation. Stay informed by checking local updates, and plan travel around changing conditions to avoid hazardous roads.
