Green Bay, WI – Residents across central and east-central Wisconsin should brace for dangerously cold wind chills ranging from -10 to -30 degrees tonight into early Wednesday. The National Weather Service warns frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes during this Arctic outbreak.
According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for areas including Green Bay, Appleton, and surrounding regions. Wind chills are expected to plummet after midnight, creating hazardous conditions for those traveling along major routes like I-41 and US-29. Officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure, cover all exposed skin, and check on elderly neighbors or anyone without adequate heating.
Overnight temperatures will dip to -1°F, with gusty northwest winds contributing to bitter wind chill values. Tuesday will bring slightly milder conditions, with highs reaching 17°F, though winds will still create frigid feels-like temperatures.
Looking ahead, Wednesday will see increasing clouds and a high near 22°F, followed by a warming trend into Thursday and Friday, where temperatures may reach the mid-30s to low-40s. However, another cold front could approach this weekend.
Residents should take precautions now by insulating homes, bringing pets indoors, and preparing emergency kits for vehicles. Stay updated through local weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel tonight.
