Fatal Fire in Perry County Leaves One Man Dead

Perry County, IN – A fire in Perry County has claimed the life of a 59-year-old man on Sunday evening.
Emergency crews responded to reports of smoke near Gatchel around 6:40 p.m. at 13501 Old State Road 37. Firefighters discovered Larry Cronin unresponsive inside the residence. First responders attempted CPR at the scene.
According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, EMS transported Cronin to Perry County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Multiple agencies, including Anderson Township Fire Department, Perry County Fire-Rescue, and the Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office, assisted in the response. Authorities continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal blaze.
The Sheriff’s Office urges residents to check smoke alarms regularly and follow fire safety guidelines to prevent tragedies.
