First responders can ski for free at these California ski resorts

Two of California’s top ski resorts are offering free lift tickets to active first responders in appreciation for their dedication to community, including those who worked tirelessly battling the deadly wildfires across Southern California.

Through the remainder of the 2024-25 winter season, firefighters, police officers and EMTs can receive a free lift ticket at Big Bear Mountain Resort in the south, and Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain resorts in the north.

The offer is available every Tuesday and Wednesday and is extended to active first responders from the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

“We deeply appreciate your tireless efforts and heroism, especially in the wake of the L.A. fires,” Big Bear Mountain Resort stated on its website. “Your dedication to our safety deserves to be celebrated, and we hope this offer allows you to take some well-deserved time on the slopes.”

The promotion, called “Heroes on the Slopes,” is part of a partnership between Big Bear Mountain Resort, Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain to recognize and thank emergency personnel.

While tickets at Bear Mountain typically range from $79 to $169 for adults, first responders can now enjoy the slopes at no cost on select days.

To redeem a complimentary ticket, first responders must present both a valid badge and a driver’s license or identification card at any ticket window on eligible days. The offer is non-transferable and applies only to the first responder.

The offer comes as Los Angeles continues to recover from the Eaton and Palisades fires, which devastated communities, destroyed over 12,000 structures, and displaced thousands of residents.

Big Bear Mountain Resort is home to three mountains including Snow Valley, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
