Tallahassee, FL – Residents across North Florida should prepare for significant rainfall and possible thunderstorms starting Friday evening and continuing into Saturday night. The National Weather Service predicts 1-2 inches of rain for most areas, with localized amounts reaching up to 4 inches.

According to the National Weather Service Tallahassee office, the region faces a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 4) for excessive rainfall on Saturday. This increases the potential for localized flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Motorists traveling along the I-10 corridor and other key roadways are advised to monitor weather updates and exercise caution due to slick conditions and reduced visibility.

Temperatures will also drop significantly as a cold front moves in late Saturday. Highs will hover in the upper 60s on Saturday but will plummet to lows near 42 degrees by Sunday morning. Chilly conditions are expected to persist into the early part of next week, with Monday morning lows near 30 degrees.

Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday will see mostly clear skies with highs around 59 to 64 degrees, offering a brief break before the weekend rain. Showers are forecast to taper off by Sunday evening, bringing a cooler and drier start to the week.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, check drainage systems, and avoid driving through flooded areas. Keep emergency kits ready and stay updated through local weather alerts for the latest developments.
