Tampa, FL — A cold front is moving south through Florida, bringing freezing temperatures and hazardous conditions to the region. A Freeze Warning is in effect for Levy County, while Tampa Bay and surrounding areas are under a Cold Weather Advisory until 9 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service Tampa Bay, temperatures are forecasted to drop as low as 30°F in northern areas like Chiefland, with Tampa expected to hit the low 40s. Cold air filtering through the peninsula will bring high risks of rip currents along Gulf beaches, prompting a Small Craft Advisory for boaters in the eastern Gulf waters.

Residents are urged to prepare for near-freezing temperatures by protecting plants, pets, and outdoor pipes. Beachgoers are advised to avoid swimming due to strong currents, and small vessels should remain docked.

Daytime temperatures on Monday are expected to rise into the low 50s near Crystal River and the mid-60s in Fort Myers. However, the cold front marks a significant departure from Florida’s typical January weather, which is usually mild.
