Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias makes his mark in Hollywood, pays tribute to KTLA 5’s Sam Rubin

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, known to fans as “Fluffy,” was immortalized in Hollywood on Tuesday as he left his mark in cement at the TCL Chinese Theatre.

He took part in a hand and footprint ceremony at the iconic location. Attendees included comedian Jo Koy, radio DJ Big Boy, executive producer Ron DeBlasio and actor Emilio Rivera.

The comedian accepted the honor by donning a button-up shirt featuring photos of prominent Latino entertainers like: Vicente Fernández, “Cantinflas” star Óscar Jaenada, “El Chapulín Colorado’s” Chespirito, Desi Arnaz, John Leguizamo, George Lopez, Speedy Gonzales of “Looney Tunes” and “Chico and the Man” star Freddie Prinze.

During the ceremony, Iglesias gave a speech where he paid tribute to KTLA 5’s Sam Rubin.

“One of my biggest supporters over the years, who would always welcome me, and not only a huge fan and a supporter of my career but someone who would genuinely take time to sit with me and talk with me off-camera and ask me how I’m doing and just wanted to learn more,” Iglesias said.

“He would go ‘Wow man, I don’t think there’s anything you can’t do.’ And today definitely proves that. That person who I wish was here today is the late great Mr. Sam Rubin. Channel 5 news you guys.”

The superstar comic released his first of two Netflix stand-up specials earlier this year called “Legend of Fluffy.”

Iglesias is one of the most successful standup comics in the world and one of the highest-grossing touring comedians of all time.
