Gary, Indiana Shooting Leaves One Dead, Two Hospitalized After Gunfire in Local Residence

Gary, IN – A shooting late Sunday night in Gary left one man dead and two others hospitalized, authorities said. Police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in the 2100 block of Delaware Street.

Officers discovered a 22-year-old East Chicago woman with a gunshot wound. The Gary Fire Department transported her to Methodist Northlake Hospital for treatment.

Inside the residence, officers found a 26-year-old Gary man unresponsive in the kitchen. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third victim, a 31-year-old man from Chicago, sustained an abdominal gunshot wound. A private party transported him to Methodist Northlake Hospital for care.

Police secured the crime scene and contacted the Lake County Homicide Task Force, the Lake County Coroner’s Office, and the Lake County Crime Lab. Investigators are actively gathering evidence to determine the events leading to the shooting.

Gary Police have not released the identities of the victims pending family notifications. They encourage anyone with information to contact Detective D. Moran at (219) 755-3855.
