Gov. Newsom, state officials restart ‘California Rises’ to support wildfire recovery
The California Fire Foundation and Gov. Gavin Newsom have restarted California Rises, describing it as “a bold new phase of wildfire recovery and resilience.”
The programs will provide relief and grants to communities devastated by the catastrophic fires in the Los Angeles area that destroyed tens of thousands of structures and claimed more than two dozen lives.
“This collaboration represents our unified commitment to building stronger, safer communities,” said California Fire Foundation Chair Brian K. Rice. “We are grateful for Gov. Newsom and his continued partnership to support firefighters and the communities they protect.”

California Rises also provides community members who weren’t affected by the fires to give back by donating money or resources, volunteering, thanking first responders or simply spreading love.
Since its launch in 2018, California Rises has enabled the foundation to provide grants to 22 community organizations working to rebuild and revitalize neighborhoods devastated by major wildfires, including providing emotional and financial assistance to families of firefighters and the communities they protect.
