Heavy Snow and Blowing Winds in Maine: Winter Storm Warning Up to 9 Inches of Snow Through 1 PM Monday

Bangor, ME – A winter storm is set to blanket parts of Maine with up to 9 inches of snow by Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 7 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday, covering Coastal DownEast, Far Eastern, Interior DownEast, and Penobscot Valley regions.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall rates could reach 1 to 2 inches per hour in the heaviest bands, with gusts between 30 and 35 mph causing areas of blowing snow. Visibility is expected to be significantly reduced, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially during Monday morning’s commute.

Affected areas include Bangor, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, and Washington County towns such as Calais and Eastport. Total snow accumulations are forecasted to range from 6 to 9 inches.
