Tulsa, OK – Strong winds and dry conditions could elevate fire risks across northeastern Oklahoma this week, with gusts up to 25 mph expected Wednesday. While temperatures remain unseasonably warm, a weak cold front midweek may bring a slight chance of showers, offering limited relief.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will be partly sunny with a high near 53°F and northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph. By Tuesday night, skies will be mostly cloudy, and temperatures will drop to around 45°F.
Wednesday will see the return of gusty south winds, reaching 10 to 15 mph with potential gusts up to 25 mph. Highs will climb to 73°F under mostly sunny skies. A shallow cold front is expected to move through late Wednesday night, bringing a 20% chance of showers and a drop in temperatures. Overnight lows will settle near 50°F.
Thursday will be slightly cooler, with highs around 61°F. Winds will shift northwest at 10 to 15 mph, with occasional gusts up to 20 mph. Mostly sunny skies will dominate, keeping conditions dry. By Thursday night, lows will dip to 41°F, with clear skies and light northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph.
The warming trend resumes Friday, with highs reaching 64°F and northeast winds at 5 to 10 mph shifting south later in the day. A few clouds may develop overnight, but no precipitation is expected.
Saturday remains mostly sunny, with highs in the upper 60s and increasing winds. Gusts up to 25 mph are possible, particularly in the afternoon.
Fire officials advise against outdoor burning due to dry conditions and strong winds midweek. Residents should stay updated on weather changes, especially along major roadways like I-44 and US-75.
