Homeless woman’s beaten body found on Santa Monica beach

Santa Monica homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose badly beaten body was found on the beach Monday morning.

Lifeguards discovered the woman’s body inside a sleeping bag around 7:05 a.m. on the 1500 block of the beach along the waterline.

According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the unidentified woman was declared dead at the scene and homicide was suspected due to evidence of trauma to her face.

The woman’s identity has not yet been determined, but police believe she was about 30 years old and homeless.
