Poughkeepsie, NY – Freezing rain is causing slick roads and hazardous travel conditions across parts of the Hudson Valley, northwest Connecticut, and western Massachusetts this morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Weather Advisoryremains in effect until 1 p.m. EST for Litchfield County (CT), southern Berkshire County (MA), and the southeast Catskills, mid-Hudson Valley, and southern Taconics in New York. A light glaze of ice accumulation is expected, making travel dangerous.

Bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads are especially susceptible to icing, potentially impacting the Friday morning commute. Sidewalks, driveways, and stairs may also remain slippery even after temperatures rise above freezing.

Motorists are urged to reduce speed and exercise caution. Power outages are possible due to ice accumulation. If traveling, allow extra time and be prepared for changing conditions.

This advisory will remain in effect until early afternoon as temperatures gradually climb. Stay updated on weather conditions and drive carefully.
