I-80 Westbound Closed at Nevada Border as Sierra Storm Dumps Up to 5 Feet of Snow
On Monday, a winter storm continued to pummel the Sierra and western Nevada, dropping feet of snow along Interstate 80.
Caltrans reported that westbound Interstate 80 was closed at the Nevada state boundary due to multiple spinouts. As of Monday afternoon, no expected reopening time had been provided.

Eastbound Interstate 80 remained open but under chain controls from just east of Baxter, California, to the Nevada state line. Exemptions apply only to 4-wheel-drive cars equipped with snow tires on all four wheels.
Donner Pass could see up to 4 feet of snow, with higher summits perhaps reaching 5 feet. A winter storm warning remains in force for the Tahoe region until 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Gusts along Sierra ridgelines may exceed 100 mph.
Rain mixed with snow was forecast in the Reno area Monday night and Tuesday, with modest accumulation on the valley level. Travel delays are possible until Tuesday.
