‘I am truly humbled’: L.A. Galaxy legend Cobi Jones to be celebrated with statue
The Los Angeles Galaxy Tuesday announced plans to unveil a statue of iconic soccer star and fan favorite Cobi Jones.
Jones will be the third legendary Galaxy player to be immortalized in bronze when the statue is unveiled in 2026 as the city celebrates the World Cup competition coming to the United States. Jones’ statue will join those of David Beckham and Landon Donovan in Legends Plaza, the Galaxy stated in a news release.

“I am truly humbled by this incredible honor,” Jones said. “Starting out as a five-year-old who loved soccer, it grew into a passion that allowed me to represent the United States and play for the best fans here in Los Angeles with the Galaxy.”
During his 12 seasons with the Galaxy, Jones scored 70 goals, including the team’s first during its inaugural season, was credited with 91 assists and played in a club-record 306 MLS regular season matches. Jones was also a two-time MLS Cup champion in 2002 and 2005 and won the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup in 2000.
The four-time MLS All-Star was an inaugural inductee into the L.A. Galaxy Ring of Honor.
With the U.S. Men’s National Team, Jones appeared in three FIFA World Cups and is also a National Soccer Hall of Fame member.
The news release stated that further details for the statue unveiling ceremony will be announced at a later date.
