Toledo, OH – The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa counties, effective from 1 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday. Significant ice accumulation is expected, leading to hazardous conditions.
According to the NWS, the region could see up to an inch of snow and sleet, followed by ice accumulations of up to 0.3 inches. A light wintry mix will begin in the afternoon, transitioning to freezing rain by evening. Surfaces are expected to become icy quickly, and power outages and tree damage are likely. Winds will remain light overnight before shifting westerly with gusts up to 30 mph on Thursday.
Officials strongly discourage travel during this storm. Those who must travel should carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water. The Ohio Department of Transportation urges motorists to check road conditions at www.ohgo.com before heading out.
Residents should prepare for potential power outages and avoid unnecessary trips during the warning period.
