Boise, ID – Residents across southwest Idaho are under an Air Stagnation Advisory until 11 a.m. Friday, with poor air quality affecting the region. The advisory covers the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas, where stagnant conditions may cause respiratory challenges for sensitive groups.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory stems from light winds and minimal vertical air mixing, trapping pollutants near the surface. Officials urge those with respiratory issues to limit outdoor activities and follow their physicians’ recommendations.

Today’s forecast includes sunny skies with a high of 41 degrees and calm winds, transitioning to mostly clear conditions tonight with a low of 26. Thursday mirrors today with sunshine and a high near 41, while Thursday night dips to a chilly 25.

The weekend forecast shows mostly sunny skies Friday, with highs near 40 and gusts reaching 20 mph. Saturday cools further with highs in the mid-30s, while Sunday drops to lows in the teens, signaling a brisk start to the week ahead.

Travelers should take extra precautions, as limited visibility from haze may impact commutes along I-84. Outdoor burning is also discouraged to avoid worsening conditions.

Residents can monitor air quality through local advisories and adjust plans accordingly. Stay informed to protect your health and reduce exposure during this advisory period.
