Boise, ID – A winter storm is set to bring significant snowfall to parts of Idaho, creating hazardous travel conditions from Friday morning through Saturday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are expected in the valleys of the West Central Mountains, including McCall and Cascade. The Camas Prairie and Boise Mountain valleys, including Idaho City, Lowman, and Fairfield, could see 4 to 8 inches. Higher elevations may receive between 12 and 18 inches of snow, accompanied by gusty winds.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. Friday to 5 p.m. MST Saturday for these regions. Roads, including Highways 20, 21, and 55, are expected to become slick and hazardous, making travel difficult.

Further west, a separate advisory impacts Idaho’s Upper Weiser River region and parts of eastern Oregon, including Baker County and the Lower Treasure Valley. These areas are expected to receive 1 to 4 inches of snow from early Friday morning through Friday evening, potentially affecting commutes.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and check Idaho’s 511 road conditions hotline before traveling.
