Peoria, IL – Freezing rain is set to impact central Illinois on Wednesday, creating hazardous travel conditions across multiple counties.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST Wednesday for Marshall, Mason, McLean, Peoria, Stark, Tazewell, Woodford, Fulton, Knox, and Schuyler Counties. Ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are expected, making roads, bridges, and overpasses slick.
Temperatures will rise above freezing by late afternoon for areas south of I-74, reducing the icing threat. However, locations north of I-74 may continue to experience icy conditions into the evening.
