Chicago, IL – Snow showers and frigid wind chills are expected across northern Illinois tonight, impacting evening travel and outdoor plans. Wind chills as low as -10°F will persist through the night, with temperatures dipping to 18°F in the Chicago area.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered snow showers will develop between 7 p.m. and midnight, particularly along I-55 and surrounding suburbs. Light accumulation is possible, although totals will remain under an inch. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on untreated roads as visibility may be reduced during bursts of snow.

Looking ahead, Saturday will bring a reprieve from the bitter cold, with highs reaching 36°F and partly sunny skies. Winds from the southwest at 10–15 mph could make outdoor activities more comfortable. By Saturday night, temperatures will drop to 15°F under clearing skies.

Sunday will feature another cooldown, with highs near 27°F and continued dry conditions. The workweek begins with a significant warm-up on Monday, as temperatures climb to 41°F under breezy conditions. Expect a mix of clouds and sun early next week, with no major precipitation forecasted through Thursday.

Residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions tonight and take advantage of the warmer temperatures this weekend. For the latest updates, check weather alerts and road conditions before heading out.
