Chicago, IL – Strong winds will dominate northern Illinois today, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph, especially near and north of I-88. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., warning of hazardous driving conditions and possible power outages.

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, southwest winds will increase through the afternoon, peaking between 45-55 mph in areas north of I-80. Windy conditions, combined with dry air and mild temperatures, also raise the risk of brush fires. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects and use caution when disposing of smoking materials.

Looking ahead, Wednesday will be sunny with highs near 40°F, followed by a chance of rain late Thursday. Friday may bring a wintry mix, with rain changing to snow before tapering off into the weekend. Temperatures will remain near or slightly below freezing through Saturday.

Drivers, especially those with high-profile vehicles, should use caution on highways and bridges. Stay updated with the latest weather alerts and prepare for potential travel delays.
