Fort Wayne, IN – Freezing rain is making roads and sidewalks dangerously slick across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio this morning. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST (9 AM CST), with hazardous travel conditionspersisting through the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, additional ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected, making sidewalks, bridges, and untreated roads especially treacherous. Areas affected include Fort Wayne, La Porte, Warsaw, Wabash, Van Wert, and Lima.
Motorists should reduce speed, allow extra travel time, and use caution on icy surfaces. A few scattered power outages are possible due to ice buildup on trees and power lines.
Conditions will improve as temperatures rise later in the morning. For real-time road conditions, check 511 Indiana or 511 Ohio before traveling.
