Indiana State Police Investigate Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Jasper County

Jasper County, IN – Indiana State Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred during a traffic stop.

A Jasper County deputy stopped a vehicle around 4:15 p.m. on State Road 14 near County Road 475 East. The stop happened near the Pulaski County line. According to police, the officer attempted to arrest the suspect, who resisted. An altercation ensued, leading the deputy to fire his weapon, fatally wounding the suspect.

Police confirmed the suspect had a firearm during the confrontation. The Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division is leading the investigation.

The Jasper County Coroner will release the suspect’s identity after confirming it and notifying the family. Police said they would submit their findings to the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office after the investigation concludes.
