Indianapolis, IN – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for central Indiana from 1 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, with a mix of snow and ice expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, the advisory affects areas including Indianapolis, Lafayette, Muncie, Kokomo, and Anderson. Up to one inch of snow and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are expected, making roads, bridges, and overpasses particularly slick.

The heaviest precipitation is forecast between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m., impacting early morning travel. Commuters should plan for extra travel time and exercise caution, especially on untreated roads.

Authorities advise slowing down and maintaining a safe distance while driving. Pedestrians should also be cautious of icy sidewalks, stairs, and driveways. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 511.

This winter weather system is expected to move out of the area by late morning, with improving conditions by Saturday afternoon.
