Indianapolis, IN – IMPD detectives shut down an illegal party on Saturday night after discovering underage drinking and multiple safety violations at an unpermitted event.

The IMPD Nuisance Abatement Unit (NAU) learned about a “Valentine’s Euphoria Party” scheduled for February 1, 2025, at Encanto Banquet Hall on E. Washington Street. Flyers for the event encouraged attendees to disguise alcohol by bringing “liquor in water bottles.” Detectives investigated and confirmed the venue lacked proper permits.

On Saturday night, officers observed a large crowd entering through an emergency exit. Inside, they found around 200 attendees, many appearing under 21 and consuming alcohol. As officers monitored the scene, multiple disturbances erupted.

IMPD’s Event Response Group arrived, prompting many partygoers to leave. Detectives obtained a search warrant and found alcohol in plain view. The venue operator failed to produce the required permits, and officers identified a serious fire code violation—only one entrance and exit.

Police issued four citations, totaling up to $10,000 in fines, and arrested one person for underage drinking. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine final charges.
