Omaha, NE – Freezing rain is expected late tonight across western Iowa, creating slick roads and dangerous travel conditions into Saturday morning. A wintry mix could impact drivers along I-29 and I-80, with ice accumulation increasing the risk of accidents.

According to the National Weather Service, a slight chance of freezing rain will develop after midnight, followed by a mix of snow and rain on Saturday. Wind gusts could reach 23 mph, further reducing visibility. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and allow extra time for travel.

Sunday will bring cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, with highs in the low 30s. Another winter storm system is expected Monday night into Tuesday, bringing likely snowfall and gusty winds. Northern winds could reach 17 mph, creating drifting snow and hazardous road conditions.

The extended forecast suggests continued winter weather, with more snow possible Tuesday night. Residents should stay updated on changing conditions and prepare for difficult commutes early next week.

Stay tuned for further updates as the storm system develops.
