Juvenile riding ‘pocket bike’ in Southern California killed in crash with Harley

A minor riding a “pocket bike” died following a collision with a Harley-Davidson that also left the motorcycle rider seriously injured in Palmdale earlier this week.

Deputies responded to the crash on 20th Street East near Avenue L-8 shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators believe the male juvenile was riding the pocket bike in a northeast direction across the northbound lane of 20th Street East while at the same time, a man on the Harley-Davidson was riding northbound on 20th Street East approaching Avenue L-8.

“The motorcycle struck the pocket bike, which was not affixed with a headlight or taillight, in the northbound lane of travel,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The juvenile, who has not been identified, died at the scene from his injuries, the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into the crash.
