Juvenile suspect arrested in Culver City carjacking

A juvenile suspect was arrested in connection with a carjacking in Culver City.

On March 3, Culver City police responded to reports of a carjacking at a parking lot on the 10800 block of Jefferson Boulevard around 9 p.m.

The female victim said she was approached by three male suspects between 16- 25 years old who were wearing red bandannas over their faces.

The suspects forcefully grabbed the woman’s purse and car keys and quickly found her vehicle using the stolen keys.

One suspect drove away with the woman’s car while the others followed behind in another vehicle. By the time police arrived at the parking structure, the suspects had fled. Officers searched the immediate area, but nobody was found.

The next morning at around 6:30 a.m. the woman’s vehicle was found unoccupied in Los Angeles. The car was retrieved and processed for evidence.

The department’s Forensics Unit identified a suspect through fingerprints found inside the vehicle. The suspect, whose name was not released due to his juvenile status, was located on March 4 and taken into custody.

The other two suspects have not been arrested yet and no further details on the case were released.

“This rapid response and successful apprehension highlight the dedication and efficiency of the Culver City Police Department in addressing and resolving criminal activity in the community,’ the police department said.
