Kansas City, MO – A cold front is gripping Missouri this week, bringing bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills. Tonight’s lows are expected to drop into the single digits across the region, with wind chill values as low as -2°F in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, temperatures tonight will hover near 8°F for much of the area. Winds from the northwest at 5-7 mph will make conditions feel even colder, particularly near Highway 36 and northward. Residents are urged to dress warmly and limit time outdoors to avoid frostbite risks.

Tuesday’s forecast shows no immediate relief, with a high near 22°F expected during the day under sunny skies. Overnight, temperatures will again fall to 8°F, and wind chill values will remain near or below zero. Drivers should be cautious of black ice, especially on bridges and overpasses, as lingering moisture may freeze during the overnight hours.

Midweek, conditions improve slightly as highs climb to 28°F on Wednesday and near-normal temperatures return Thursday with a high near 38°F. By Friday, the area will see a high of 44°F under mostly sunny skies.

Residents should monitor updates from the National Weather Service and prepare for extended exposure to cold temperatures. Those traveling should ensure vehicles are equipped with emergency supplies, including blankets, water, and a fully charged phone.
