Wichita, KS – Bitterly cold temperatures are set to grip the Wichita area tonight, with lows plunging into the teens. Residents are urged to prepare for another frosty evening as conditions slowly improve toward the end of the week.
According to the National Weather Service, Wichita will see a high near 30 degrees today, followed by a low of 14 degrees tonight. Winds will remain light, but the chill will still be noticeable. The gradual warm-up begins Wednesday, with highs reaching 35 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By Friday, temperatures are expected to climb to a more comfortable 46 degrees.
Drivers commuting along I-135 and surrounding roads Wednesday morning should anticipate icy patches from overnight freezing temperatures. Take extra precautions and allow additional travel time to avoid accidents.
The extended forecast reveals a sharp drop in temperatures over the weekend. Saturday’s high is only expected to reach 28 degrees, while Sunday night could bring single-digit lows. Wichita residents should bundle up and consider limiting outdoor activities during the coldest periods.
