OILDALE, Calif. — Deputies were summoned to a school in Oildale in response to concerns raised by the staff regarding social media threats that had been circulating among students. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) promptly investigated the situation and ultimately deemed the threats to lack credibility.
On September 15, 2023, at approximately 9:40 a.m., KCSO received a report of a suspicious circumstance at a school located on the 900 block of Sanford Drive. The school staff had become aware of a social media post making the rounds among students, which raised serious concerns.
Notably, these threats did not specify a particular school or student as their target. However, after a thorough investigation, authorities concluded that these threats were not credible and had originated from sources outside of Kern County.
In a related development, the Kern High School District police are currently investigating another social media post that began circulating on a Friday morning. This post vaguely references threats directed towards a school campus. It’s worth noting that, as of now, this post lacks substantiated information and doesn’t seem to specifically target North High School or any schools in the Bakersfield area.
