Lake County Authorities Investigate Fatal Shooting of St. John Resident

St. John, IN – A 40-year-old man died from gunshot wounds in an apparent homicide at a St. John residence.

The victim, identified as Brandon Perkins, was pronounced dead Wednesday at 12:10 p.m. at Franciscan Health Emergency Room in Dyer. According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, authorities responded to a call from the 14000 block of West 93rd Place in St. John.

A forensic autopsy is scheduled Thursday at the Lake County Forensic Science Center in Crown Point. Officials listed the manner of death as homicide, with the preliminary cause identified as gunshot wounds. Toxicology results remain pending.

Emergency responders from the St. John Fire Department and law enforcement from St. John Police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Department investigated the scene.

The investigation continues as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests or further details were released by authorities.
