LAPD Reports: Security Guard Shoots Attacker at Hollywood Ralphs Store

A person who attacked a supermarket security guard at a Ralphs store in Hollywood was fatally shot by the guard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident occurred on Monday around 3 p.m. in the 5400 block of Hollywood Boulevard.

According to LAPD Lt. Robert Peters, there was a confrontation between the security guard and the individual at the store.

At one point, the person armed themselves with a heavy fire extinguisher and used it as a weapon to attack the guard. Later, they put down the extinguisher and switched to using a screwdriver to continue the attack.

In response, the guard attempted to back away from the situation and fired one shot, hitting the individual in the upper body.

After the shooting, the guard immediately called 911 for help and tried to provide aid to the person.

Emergency services rushed the injured individual to a local hospital, but unfortunately, they were later pronounced dead.

The authorities have not released the gender, age, or identity of the deceased, pending notification of their next of kin.

Currently, the cause of the confrontation is under investigation by the authorities.
