LAPD seeks public’s help in locating suspect in deadly stabbing

Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old Long Beach man last year.

On the evening of Aug. 6, 2024, Joey Darnell Thomas was attacked and stabbed to death near the intersection of Westlake Avenue and 6th Street near MacArthur Park.

Over the past several months, investigators have exhausted all leads in the case and have been unable to determine a possible motive for the “senseless murder.”

The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate and is asking for the public’s help for any new leads. To aid in the investigation, the Los Angeles City Council has approved a $50,000 reward for information that might bring the person responsible to justice.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the LAPD Central Bureau Homicide detectives at 213-996-4118. Anonymous tips can be submitted online or by calling LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
