Los Angeles Dodgers to make Trump White House visit next month
The Los Angeles Dodgers plan to visit President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate their World Series victory, the team announced Tuesday.
The team released a statement Tuesday afternoon that said it would visit the White House “in keeping with long-standing baseball tradition.”
The Dodgers will visit the White House on April 7, during an away series against the Washington Nationals.
The announcement comes after months of speculation and uncertainty about whether the 2024 World Series champions would make the ceremonial trip to the White House while Trump holds the office.

In 2020, the team’s last World Series win, the team waited until the following summer when Joe Biden was in office to make the visit.
In 2019, Dodgers star Mookie Betts, then a member of the Boston Red Sox, opted not to visit the Trump White House to celebrate his team’s victory.
Dodgers co-owners Magic Johnson and Billie Jean King have also made comments critical of Trump in the past.
Manager Dave Roberts, himself a target of Trump’s criticism in a previous postseason run, had once said he would not be in attendance if the team won a World Series during Trump’s first administration. Los Angeles Times Dodgers reporter Jack Harris reported that Roberts would attend this year’s White House visit out of respect for the position. “It’s the highest office in our country,” Roberts said.
The decision for the team to visit the White House also comes on the heels of a controversial removal of a webpage highlighting the military service of baseball legend, Hall of Famer and Dodger Jackie Robinson. The removal of the story appeared to be related to the Trump Administration’s anti-DEI — diversity, equity and inclusion — policies, and was one of a handful of similar pages that were wiped from the Defense Department’s website.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth released an official statement that decried DEI initiatives in the DoD and applauded the “rapid compliance” that led to the removal of the pages.
Robinson’s page on the DoD website has since been restored.
The Dodgers resume their quest for a World Series Championship repeat on Thursday when they host the Detroit Tigers in the team’s home opener. The Dodgers are currently 2-0, having started the regular season early as part of MLB’s 2025 Tokyo Series in Japan.
