Bangor, ME – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snow, ice, and strong winds to eastern Maine from late Saturday night through Sunday night, affecting Bangor, Bar Harbor, and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, up to 7 inches of snow and sleet may accumulate in Hancock, Washington, and Penobscot counties, with ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, increasing the risk of downed tree branches and scattered power outages.

Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions throughout Sunday. Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel and keeping emergency supplies on hand. Slippery roads and limited visibility are expected, particularly in the coastal cities of Bar Harbor, Eastport, and Ellsworth.
