Maine Weather Alert: Wind Chills Drop to -28°F, Up to 4 Inches of Snow Expected

Caribou, ME – Bitter cold and snowfall continue across Maine, with subzero temperatures and snow showers expected through the weekend. Residents should prepare for hazardous conditions, including dangerous wind chills as low as -28°F.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Caribou, light snow will spread across the state Wednesday and taper off by evening. Accumulations will range from 3 to 4 inches along the coast and 1 to 2 inches inland. By Wednesday night, temperatures will plummet to -7F, with gusty winds making it feel much colder.

Thursday will be sunny but frigid, with highs struggling to reach 7°F. The extreme cold will persist into Thursday night, with another round of snow expected Friday. Snowfall will be heaviest in Downeast Maine, with a 50% chance of accumulation throughout the day.

The weekend remains dry but bitterly cold, with lows dipping to -12°F Saturday night. Another storm system could bring more snow and mixed precipitation to the region early next week.

Residents should dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and check for weather updates. Drivers should exercise caution, as icy conditions may develop on major roadways.
