Man Dies After Being Trapped Under Equipment in Milton, Indiana

Milton, IN – A 57-year-old Cambridge City man died Wednesday in Milton, Indiana, after a skid steer overturned and trapped him.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 12:29 p.m. to a call about an unresponsive male on East North Street. Officers arrived to find Joseph Peggs pinned beneath the heavy machinery.
Multiple emergency agencies, including the Milton and Centerville Fire Departments, rushed to the scene. First responders freed Peggs and provided medical aid. Despite their efforts, he died at Reid Hospital shortly after.
Authorities believe the incident was a tragic accident, but the sheriff’s office continues to investigate. Officials have not released details on how the skid steer overturned.
The sheriff’s office thanked local emergency crews for their quick response. Sheriff Randy Retter offered condolences to Peggs’ family.
