Man Dies in Head-on Collision on State Road 19; Teen Driver Under Investigation
A 30-year-old Dunnellon man was killed in a crash late Saturday in Lake County with a vehicle that swerved into his lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on State Road 19, south of Arrowtree Boulevard.
According to an FHP crash report, a 2020 Audi A3 carrying two people — a 17-year-old boy driving and a 17-year-old girl riding as a passenger, both from Groveland — was headed southbound on S.R. 19 while a 2013 Ford Mustang driven by the Dunnellon male went north.
According to the report, the child veered into the northbound lane, directly in front of the Mustang, forcing the Audi’s left to collide with the Ford’s left.

According to FHP, the Mustang veered off the road to the right and crashed into a ditch.
The Dunnellon man was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the report. Troopers suspect he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
Both of the teens in the Audi were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, according to authorities.
FHP is still researching.
