Man Injured, Wife Detained in Northwest Side Home Shooting, Police Report

According to San Antonio police, a man aged 37 is currently hospitalized, and his wife has been taken into custody following a shooting at their home on the city’s Northwest Side early Wednesday morning.

Officers received a report of shots fired at approximately 4:10 a.m. and promptly arrived at the residence located in the 14000 block of Rocky Pine Woods Street, near Interstate 10 and DeZavala Road.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. He was swiftly transported by ambulance to University Hospital, where he is now listed in “stable” condition.

Police have detained the man’s wife for questioning in connection with the incident. Additionally, four children, aged three, five, six, and eight, who were also present at the home during the shooting, are now under police custody. They will soon be transferred to Child Protective Services.

Fortunately, the children are safe and unharmed, as they were not in the room when the shooting occurred.

As of now, police have not disclosed whether the shooting resulted from a domestic dispute or domestic violence due to the lack of cooperation from both the husband and wife.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine which of the couple’s firearms was used in the incident. The San Antonio Police Department, along with the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS, responded promptly to the emergency call.
